The primary service MTF Design offers are computer-aided designs of
products and tools. The initial design concepts are typically
described by the client by various means; including hand drawn sketches
or verbal descriptions. The initial concepts can also be created
by MTF Design based on any information the client is able to convey.
The deliverables can be e-mailed, next day Fed-Ex mailed on a CD and
rolled paper drawings, or made available on a password protected web
page.
Key Benefits
- All clients receive signed non-disclosure agreements before any
design work takes place. All concepts and completed designs
become the sole property of the client.
- If desired, drawings specifically made for patent applications
can be produced.
- Your company's engineers can use their project engineering time
more efficiently. Even if you have dedicated designers,
you'll be completing projects much quicker if they're overloaded.
Capabilities
All work is done in 3D using various mid-range CAD programs such as
thinkdesign™ from think3, Rhinoceros™ from Robert McNeel and
Associates, AutoCAD™ from AutoDesk, and Alibre Design Professional™
from Alibre. Professional computing and plotting hardware from
Hewlett-Packard as well as Wacom digitizers provide the power to speed
your designs to completion.
- Solid Modeling
- Parts and assemblies are completed and delivered in
'watertight' STEP solid model format, ready for integration into
your CAD or CAM system or forwarding to tool shops. Plastic
parts and die castings will have proper wall thickness, draft, and
fillets. You will also be delivered an STL file which can be
used to produce a rapid prototype from any of a variety of modern
prototyping systems.
We also commonly provide the next level of product development
work such as providing prototypes and getting production tooling and
part quotes. Mold design, especially rubber mold design, is
another of our specialties.
- Drafting
- All parts and assembly designs are also delivered with a
complete set of plotted hard copies, A to D-size, to ANSI
specifications. Provide us with your drawing template and
layering convention and you won't be able to tell that it wasn't
produced in your facility.
-
- Typically, all 2D hard copies are also delivered in DWG and PDF
electronic files. PDF is especially convenient for
easily sharing designs between individuals without CAD systems on
their computers.
-
- Presentation Capabilities
- Commonly, a client would like to present a product design to a
customer in order to get a manufacturing order. In this
situation a little extra artistry might help a customer decide to
go ahead with an order. Photorealistic renderings are
standard deliverables that show a product with spotlights, shadows
and reflective qualities very closely resembling an actual
photograph. It is also easy to attach a rendering to an
e-mail message for forwarding as desired.
-
- When a highly detailed 3D reviewing of a design is desired, a
ModelPress file will also be made available. This will allow
anyone with a web browser the ability to interactively view and
measure a rendered solid model.
